At the end of August I began to get a headache. After having a great summer, going to Barretstown and getting back to school for two weeks I couldn’t believe it, not again. We went into Accident and Emergency to get it all checked out. This time the left ventricle had collapsed yet again. The surgeons thought maybe the ventricles weren’t communicating properly. The surgeons tried to carry out a ventricular fenestration to try and connect the ventricles but the special equipment was contaminated so they had to go to plan B. They decided to put in a 2nd shunt into the right ventricle. I felt pretty miserable when I woke up and heard that I had 2 shunts – double trouble!
After a few days I got out of hospital to recover at home and hoped to be back at school soon.
