My Fifth Operation

Summer 2013 I went for an MRI scan and the results came back and showed that my tumour had grown. I was very disappointed and upset when I heard the news because it meant that I would have to go back into hospital for another operation. This time it was going to be a tumour debulking operation. Debulking means trying to remove as much of the tumour as possible.

October 2013 is when I went for the operation. I went in on Monday and waited for a for a bed. The following morning they came to take me down to theatre. When I woke up they told us that they managed to take away a little bit of the tumour but not as much as they had hoped because my tumour is in the centre of my head so it is at a very delicate area.

It was after this operation that the doctors decided that I would need treatment to stop the tumour growing. In December they asked my mum and dad to go into the hospital without me and they discussed treatment options. They recommended Proton Beam Treatment in Jacksonville, Florida. My mum and dad were very upset when they got home. My sister and I cried too when we were told what was going to happen. It was very frightening and I didn’t really understand what was going to happen.
